Yellows still searching for pitching, but no deals yet

Sometimes checking from the Winter Conferences wish list is easier in theory.

Yellows gm Wally Jocketty found the Hilton Anatole hotel now with designs on attempting to trade for any beginning pitcher -- the team's main concern. Throughout a Tuesday morning meeting of GMs to go over the finer points from the new Collective Negotiating Agreement, Jocketty learned he wasn't the only person.

"I acquired a much better sense after that many clubs are searching for exactly the same factor we are searching for -- beginning pitching," Jocketty stated.

There have been also about talking wholesale nfl jerseys with the agents for second baseman Brandon Phillips in regards to a contract extension. So far, there has been no developments.

"They've a number of free agents. I have seen them, however i haven't spoken for them,Inch Jocketty stated.

There is a Tuesday morning rumor the Yellows and Rockies were talking about a possible trade that will send Edinson Volquez to Colorado for closer Huston Street. Jocketty doesn't discuss other team's gamers due to tampering rules, but it is an offer that does not make an excessive amount of sense at this time.

Street is because of make $7.5 million in 2012, while Volquez is arbitration qualified after you have $1.625 million last season. Unless of course the Rockies started in certain cash for that deal, the Yellows could most likely look for a cheaper closer and never quit Volquez along the way.

"I believe you will find enough closer options, be it via a trade or one of these simple free agents falls to us," Jocketty stated. "Demands drop, that could happen."

The Yellows haven't eliminated the suggestion that Volquez themself might be a potential closer option. Although he displayed command issues inside a disappointing 2011, he is able to throw 97 miles per hour and it has a powerful number of pitches.

"We have spoken about this, started it around," Jocketty stated. "It may be an alternate. Another factor we now have talked about is internal candidates. He may be one."

There's an opportunity the Yellows could have a look at free-agent reliever Joel Zumaya, who's attempting to recover from two right elbow surgical procedures. Zumaya, who had been when a hard-tossing setup guy for that Tigers, is scheduled to throw for interested clubs' scouts on 12 ,. 14 in Houston.

"We haven't talked about that yet. He's been hurt a lot,Inch Jocketty stated. "We might send someone. We have been following everybody which has been tossing this offseason."

Further lower their email list of focal points is getting a veteran shortstop/utility infielder for that bench. There is however been no progress.

"They are difficult to find, the best guy," Jocketty stated.

The Yellows will not be embracing veteran Edgar Renteria again, it seems. Renteria is really a free agent after one lackluster season in Cincinnati

"They approached me yesterday," Jocketty stated. "At this time, I stated 'probably not.' He did a pleasant project for us. Let me find somebody that's a bit more versatile for [manager] Dusty [Baker]."

Meanwhile, the shopping continues.

"Pretty slow," Jocketty stated from the action on Tuesday. "We'd lots of conferences and discussions yesterday, but hardly any follow-up today from clubs."
